A Friendly Letter. By Lumi Tarhala.

Hi, my name is Lumi.
It’s not a Mexican name, because I’m not from Mexico. I’m from Finland, but I live here,
in Merida, Yucatan.
I’m 15 years old and my birthday is on the 23rd of November, very close to Thanksgiving.
But my favorite holiday has got to be Christmas. I really like the traditional decorations and the food; the gifts are a plus, too. 
My family (mom, dad, younger brother, and two dogs) and I love living in Merida.
But I’m looking forward to going back to Finland soon because I like the Christmas season there more. Not a lot of snow here. 
I’m interested in soccer and I’m on the girls' football team at Rogers Hall, my school.
I like science subjects and Chicken wings, like you. But the restaurants here don’t really make good ones. My favorite food here is Sopa de Lima (it’s a broth with chicken and lime that you can add your own toppings to).
You speak Spanish, right? Because I don’t speak it a lot! I’m learning, though.
I love a lot of Finnish pop music, but I should listen to Spanish songs to learn faster. Merida is a really big city with a lot of cultural events. There is a Mexican thing called the Mariachi. Which is a band that sings old love songs.
