The Classroom Times
The school was given information about Jake by him and his family in an interview. He loves going to school and learning new things. He isn't keen on running laps and hopes the gym teacher won’t make the class do them.
He likes handball and will join the school's handball team and the optional music class for advanced musicians.
Jake's parents hope that we welcome him with open arms and make him feel a part of the school as that wasn’t quite the case in his last school. Jake has Down syndrome, which can make students and school faculty unsure of how to interact with him, but Jake assured us that we don’t need to treat him any differently than we would treat some other friend.
On occasions, he hopes that people will be patient and understanding with him. But remember guys, that's how we should treat each other regardless of someone's background or condition.
We will get to know him when he joins their class on Thursday, and the other students will certainly get the chance to meet him during recess. Don’t be shy and go up to him to introduce yourself!
