A Weird Babysitting Experience
While talking to the girl I was babysitting, I made my way further into the house. I had the DVD and Popcorn in my bag.
“I bought a movie. You like movies, Mandy?” I inquired. Over my shoulder, I could see Mandy nodding and I got an idea:
“Why don’t you go to your room to get your teddy bear?”. Mandy went to her room. I turned to look at the living room.
“That's pretty creepy” I said, looking at the disturbingly realistic, life-size doll dressed like a clown. I picked up the blanket from the couch and put it over the doll.
Then I put the DVD in and went into the kitchen and put the popcorn into the microwave. I returned to see that Mandy was on the couch, eyeing the blanket. I told her about the movie, but I heard the microwave go off, so I went into the kitchen.
When I returned, the blanket had slipped off the doll. I almost dropped the bowl, when I realized that Mandy wasn’t there. I called out to her a few times, moving along the house. Finally I found her crying in her room. I comforted her the best I could, laying with her on the bed. After she calmed down, we stayed in her room and played with toys, until I put her to sleep.
I heard keyes dingling, so I hurriedly got my bag and went to greet the parents.
“Mandy is asleep. She panicked earlier, I think she was scared of the clown doll in the living room. But we handled it”, I said before leaving. I heard Mr. Scrone say:
“What is she talking about? I’ve never seen one in our living room, is it a part of your porcelain collection?”
“No”, said Mrs. Scrone.
Later that night I got a message from them asking if I had left the living room window open.
