A Friendly Letter. By Sebastian Mothelet

 Hello Evan!

My name is Sebastian and I’m also fourteen years old. I used to live in the United States like you do right now. But I lived in Houston, Texas. My family moved to Merida about a year ago. I do really like it here but it’s really hot. At least it rains often :/.

I have an older sister who’s about to finish high school, and besides her, I live with my mom, dad, and uncle. I used to play tennis, but it's been a long time since I’ve played sports. I tend to focus a lot more on my art now (drawing, singing, etc.). I listen to a lot of music because of it. Some of my favorite artists are Yeule (who makes electronic pop music and was at the top of my Spotify wrap), Caroline Polachek (who makes pop and has insane vocals), Faye Webster (who makes cozy country and jazz music), and finally Indigo de Souza (who makes indie rock).

My favorite celebration is my birthday haha, and my favorite food is mochi ice cream. Well, anyways to save space I’ll leave it at that. Have a good day!

 MÉRIDA

When the Bici Ruta takes place, the authorities close the streets that lead to Plaza Grande and guide the traffic during the late morning hours. If you live in Merida, you have most likely heard of it. But do you know what the Bici Ruta is? It’s a cycling event that is held every Sunday starting in Paseo Montejo.

It started over a decade ago and it is such a great way to spend time and have fun with friends and family; It’s surrounded by monuments and sites with historical significance, so you can bike leisurely and enjoy the view. You can also get some real exercise by cycling fast from one end of the route to the other.

The streets are lined up with cafes and restaurants, so you can go eat with your friends afterward without having to order a taxi or drive in the afternoon traffic. It’s very popular and you don’t need to own a bike to participate in it, since people have made a business out of renting all kinds of bikes to people that don’t have their own.

There are regular bikes that cost about 40 pesos an hour, as well as bikes

with multiple seats, carries, and even carriages with sun shades on them

attached to bikes! If you want the full Merida experience, it’s definitely

a thing you should add to your to-do list.

The Bici Ruta in Merida. By Sebastian Mothelet

The Bici Ruta, in Merida, is an event that happens every Sunday (in the morning) and the 1st Saturday (at night) of every month. It's held in Paseo Montejo and there are bikes for rent in case you don't have one.

Also, safety is first and a priority, so don't worry about it. There are police stationed around the event to ensure no cars come through and they even close some streets. It's an event for all walks of life and for all people to enjoy. You can go on a bike, scooter, roller skates, or even walk!

Other than enjoying the scenery of one of the biggest streets in Merida, you can, of course, visit the restaurants and little shops on the side of the street.

Dear Mr. Smith

I’m writing this email in response to the New Hiring! Advertisement on your company's

social media page. I would like to apply as a barista to the Bubble tea pop! at 23rd Avenue.

I am fourteen years old and am looking for a job to sustain myself until I get into college.

With this in mind, I hope to gain experience and would love to learn from an organization

as popular as yours. Last year, during school I gained much experience through group

projects and feel as if I’ve mastered how to manage it.

I would be delighted to have an interview, whenever is most convenient, and have

attached my CV/referees for reference. If you require further information,

please do not hesitate to contact me.

Sincerely,

Sebastian Mothelet
